RE-UPdate #48: From Amsterdam to Africa

Jeez, is April over already?! With the exception of being slightly chatty over the return of Game of Thrones (there was a ‘few fingers in ears’ moments on Monday), we’ve been hard-at-work with another productive week of work for the RE-UP bunch.

In attempt to keep the creative juices flowing for the next few months, our creative gurus Krish and Laurent caught up to discuss how to best approach creative production and brainstorming as we seek to quickly apply our innovative instincts to any task that may turn up. Planned to be a weekly session, these new one-on-ones will search for new ways to bring out the creative spirit of RE-UP.

When he’s not been in the office trying to inspire creativity, Laurent has been with Pierre jetting of to Amsterdam to chat with a fellow agency about a potential collaboration on an exciting pitch. Over a few hours, our two teams got the business energy pumping!

On to some client news, and our exciting summer project for Méduse is accelerating by the day, as we are now looking to establish new partnerships with trendy French bloggers and other businesses. While it’s still a little hush hush (much to our annoyance) we know it’s going to be uh-may-zing!

In the meanwhile we are very proud to announce that we have entered our fantastic work with Mozilla into the Warc Social Prize. Helped by our Community Builder Tina, the project has involved communicating with an extremely diverse African market. We are truly proud of our work with Mozilla, and we’re super excited to hear news from Warc in the future!

There is also some other news to get excited about as our Strategic Planner (and in many ways spiritual leader) Dan produced two sick articles for watch aficionados Fondation de la Haute Horlogerie. Set to go live in the coming days, the articles feature illustrations and graphics from our design duo Marco and Andrea. We’ll be sure to give a shout out when the articles are on their journal, but in the meantime, here’s where we’ve been getting our inspiration from: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BoEKWtgJQAU

Lastly, here are a couple stories that caught our eye this week:

  • YouTube is changing its user interface, blatantly edged on by Facebook Live’s growing competition. The redesign should make it more alike to…well, to Facebook. It’s a move to simply stop being the video database of the Internet and become an active presence for its users.

  • Twitter’s future is called into question again. Even as the company added 5 million active users in the first quarter of 2016 – breaking a persistent curve of slowing growth – the network’s market share fell by 16%. Coincidentally, the Twitter app was moved this week to the news app section on the App Store. If this news accurately reflects Twitter’s evolution, companies should no doubt quickly reassess their strategies to better adapt themselves to a platform definitely moving away from a social network model to embrace its role as a public forum.
