Welcome to the latest and… well… weirdest #factfriday to date. The team learnt a lot about animals and apparently managed to mould spit into the conversation as well. Sit back, relax and find out the most interesting things the RE-UP team have learnt this week:
- I was told about a clever little chatbot that lets you instantly contact your government officials about your issues and quarms… Unfortunately it’s only available in the US, but in times like these I think the UK could find some uses for it also! – Bill
- The average person falls asleep in seven minutes. – Marco
- Did you know that an average of 40,000 ‘search queries’ are asked on Google every second? Mad ting. – Krish
- Whales can become outcast if they sing a different song from others. Usually, whales sing to a frequency between 10 and 40Hz. If a whale’s pitch is out of this range, it won’t be able to travel with the group. The “loneliest whale in the world” sings at 52Hz – but scientists are currently finding out that it may not be that lonely. Hurray! – Fabienne
- The elephant is the only mammal that can’t jump. – Fannie
- Please, the sun is White, Not Yellow. – Laura
- During your lifetime, you will produce enough saliva to fill two swimming pools. – Myriam
