It’s that time again folks! Have a look at a weekly round-up of the most interesting facts the RE-UP learnt this week and start to wind down for the weekend:
- Aldis Hodge, star of TV series Underground blew watch fans away at the Oscars by wearing, his own, $1.7 million Greubel Forsey. He’s such a huge watch fan that he taught himself how to make watches and is now creating his own ‘haute horology’ brand. – Bill
- I learn about the origin of the French word for shoemaker, cordonnier. In the Middle Ages, Cordoba was the centre for luxury leather work. This leather was originally called Cordouan. The people who worked with it were called Cordouaniers, which very quickly became “cordonniers” – the workers who made leather shoes. – Tina
- Rumour has it that the average public swimming pool typically contains 75 litres of urine… yum. – Krish
- I learn that female kangaroos have three vaginas. – Laura
- I learnt that the first advertised product in television was a watch – Andrea
- Quentin Tarantino taught me that the longer a suspense scene is, the longer it can hold, the more suspenseful it is – Efrem
- Temperature can affect appetite. A cold person is more likely to eat more food. Marco
- Washing shoes in a washing machine can damage the shoe because it heats up the glue that holds it together. – Kahina
