RE-UPdate #46: #BeatTheBuzz. #FriezeAcademy. #F8Conference.

Creativity To The Fore!

So this week we’ve been doing what we do best… being strategically innovative and creatively minded. Whether it’s measuring the pulse of the latest social media trend or brainstorming new tactical solutions for our clients, there’s always a chance for our team to shine.

So let’s start with one of our highlights of the week, #BeatTheBuzz, an event organised by the lovely folks at WeRSM. A number of our people headed off to the event to get the chance to rub shoulders with social media pros like Phil Clayton from Facebook and Holly Clarke from Airbnb.

To top things off, our very own Laurent was lucky enough to take centre stage to discuss the role of different social media channels alongside Pollyanna Ward from Mondelez and Ellie Hernaman, founder of Truffle Social.

Socializing didn’t stop there for our relentless Operations Manager Efrem who met with one of the girls from Little Black Book team to discuss our appointment as Shiseido’s EMEA leading agency, as well as a fantastic startup company called Headstart, who are looking to disrupt the recruitment process.

And finally, because nothing is more creative than art, a team from RE-UP headed off to attend a lecture on the uses of Instagram for Fashion and Art, held by Frieze Academy. The lecture included two speakers (Jesse Ringham from Tate and Laura Bradley from Dazed Media Studio) who discussed how central Instagram is to artistic life.

Our team will be looking to write a report of their learning on this very lecture, so keep tuned for that in the coming weeks.

In terms of actual work in the office, Shiseido gave us the green light to reboot a campaign for one of their fantastic products: WetForce (we promise we’ll keep you posted).

In other news, our visual concepts for one of our luxury clients has been met with great enthusiasm and should help launch a new visual identity for this brand, while the campaign for the Library Project is getting into shape as we discuss the ways in which we could help bring to the fore and create a social pulse around a charity.

As always, here are a few stories that caught our eyes:

  • Google has launched its new Goal app, the latest in personal assistant software. Focused on making us accomplish task like learning a new language, the tool is a quick way to make individuals feel empowered.

  • Amazon produced its new, high-end Kindle which some feel has finally attained the “electronic paper” target Amazon set out to meet. It may not be enough, though. Our work with the Library Project is predicated on the idea books still have a place in our society and Kindle doesn’t seem to be replacing them anytime soon.
