Before we get started on RE-UP’s week of work we’d like to invite you to follow our brand new agency newsletter. Set to launch this Monday, the newsletter will be our way of sharing the stories, trends and topics that spark our interest and gets the RE-UP brains buzzing! You can sign-up for the newsletter here!
Now onto our work.
This week our Account Manager Margaux and Community Builder Tina have jetted off to the US to take part in Mozilla’s 2015 Orlando Workweek, to join the African team.
The #Mozlando event is key momentum for the future of the diverse Mozilla projects.
We’re very excited and proud that Tina and Margaux have been able to represent the agency at this event, and our looking forward to learning about what next year has in store for Firefox OS Africa.
In other news, our creative team has been making significant progress in designing a new campaign for French shoe brand Méduse. After brainstorming and planning out their ideas (and having a successful meeting with the client), the team is now set to organise the photoshoot.
The campaign has been planned to coincide with the redesign of Méduse’s Instagram profile (which is will launch early next year).
On top of that, this week we have also featured an interview with the fashion-focused French Instagrammer Marie Journet on the Méduse blog. Journet has been using Instagram for two years now, and in that time has developed a dynamic and unique style, representing her lifestyle and interests.
We’re also working hard on a major retail luxury brand for next year; a great catch-up with the Chinese team last week and amazing developments to come.
Lastly, this Thursday the entire team came together for an agency brainstorming session, about one of the most popular Brits in the world. You won’t know why and who, but be sure it’s B I G.
And always we want to give you a little run down of the major industry talking points that have caught our eye this week:
- Twitter have been testing a non-linear timeline with a select group of users. While it might only be an experiment, it appears that both Tweeters and industry experts aren’t overwhelmed. As one of the USP’s of Twitter is how it can deliver breaking news in an easily consumed format, it’s unlikely that the Facebook-esc arrangement will successfully translate to the social channel.
- Facebook’s annual ‘Year in Review’ video has been launched this week, reflecting on the most-mentioned topics and events from the past 12 month. With the exception of #TheDress and memes of Chris Pratt, the big social moments of this year have primarily been concerned with politics and major world crisis.
- Luxury brands are beginning to lose faith in the Chinese market, as several major brands (including Louis Vuitton and Burberry) close stores across the country. Around the 2009/2010 period China became the fastest-growing luxury market in the world. However the market has been hit by a slowing economy, and tighter regulation on ‘gifting’ within the government.
