RE-UPdate #24: Celebs, influencers, an award and more

So it’s been a week of surprises what with Japan beating rugby greats South Africa in the WC, Zaha Hadid becoming the first solo female to receive the Royal Institute of British Architects’ Royal Gold Medal and, most surprising of all, Miss Piggy and Kermit splitting-up.

But while the world have been going mad tweeting these stories, we at RE-UP have been hard at work with upcoming deadlines, new creative projects and client workshops.

We are excited to announce that we have just helped launch a new collaboration between our EMEA client and a group of influential French celebrities who work across film, TV and fashion. The work itself is part of a wider strategy to help connect the brand with a digitally engaged market and we’re excited to see the results.

Our favourite foodie client Rachel Khoo and her Khoollect team were also in the office this week and even took the opportunity for a team photo against our stylish exposed brick work.

Our work with Firefox OS Africa continues to make strides, as we continue to outreach key influencers who specialise in digital technology. This week we introduced influencer and Linux geek Shafeek Sumser to the world via the Firefox OS Africa blog. Joining the Mozilla Community two months ago, Shafeek has been keen to share his knowledge and ideas within the tight knit Mozillian community.

Want to find out more about the work Shafeek does with Firefox, and his interests in the world of tech, mobile and digital? Then check-out the recent interview we did with him, here.

And while we’re on the subject of interviews, we recently had a chat with Adeline Turbé-Mitard, better known as the fashion blogger of La Laboratoire des Modes, for shoe brand Méduse.

As a former fashion secretary who now lives and works in Nantes as a freelance copywriter, Adeline has a deep knowledge about the world of fashion and culture, and can reveal what it’s really like to be a fashionista living in Western France.

Last but by no means least, we want to announce the new research and insights project we’ve just got underway with watch aficionados Fondation de la Haute Horlogerie. We’re now looking forward to start sharing ideas and knowledge on the world of luxury and fine watchmaking.

And as for the digital highlights on our radar?

  • We kicked off the week with a presentation from our Content Strategist Zoe, on the world of live streaming apps Periscope and Meerkat (amongst others). She pointed a concentrated lens at how luxury brands were implementing this into their digital strategies to try to bridge to gap between exclusive content that’s inclusive too. Blog post coming soon.
  • The new Apple iOS upgrade certainly takes care of their audience and feeds them with a new option of protecting all of their self-made photos in a special folder. This is certainly good news for all selfie fans. Apple now let you easily pick the best pic of their daily selfie routine and post it directly on Instagram. Happy days! The only question is, is it really something the company should concentrate on? Or maybe it’s just a prime up of brand’s lack of new ideas?

To round things off we have some excited news. Our very own Laurent Francois has been crowned Young Leader of the Year by the Digital Recruitment Company.

This is a very big moment for RE-UP and we will most definitely be celebrating this evening!
