Once again we’ve reached the end of the week and everyone in the office is feeling slightly worse for wear after our office Christmas party last night. But we’re battling through the pain as we still have work to deliver on.
This week started with a presentation by Andrea on the best practises on Instagram. Using leading brands that successfully capitalise on using Instagram (including Nike and Oreo), he argued that brands should aim to surprise their audience by creating distinctive content that doesn’t necessarily fit the standard approach of their industry.
The task has helped to stimulate discussions and ideas on how we can transform French shoe brand Méduse’s Instagram profile.
While we’re on the subject of Méduse, this week we interviewed Camille of fashion and lifestyle blog As Wildchild for the Méduse blog. Discussing her thoughts for winter season trends, Camille highlighted how 70’s inspired fashion styles is growing in popularity, while camel, ochre, mustard, burgundy and pine tones are the top trendy colours to wear among fashionistas.
Méduse aren’t the only shoe brand that have been occupying our minds this week, with our copywriter Krish developing month-long content calendars for kids footwear brand Bopy, and our creative team have been brainstorming and mapping out potential taglines for Bopy.
On top of all that our team have been driving forward with Firefox OS Africa. This week they oversaw the publication of several blog articles, including a piece on the first-ever MozFest in Cameroon, which had been set-up entirely by the Mozillian community.
And to round off our RE-UPdate here are some of the stories that have caught our eye this week:
- Google are attempting to step-up their social game with a new enhanced Images feature that could rival Pinterest. The search engine will now let users create their own image collections, allowing for a more efficient process of finding your favourite pics. However, currently this is going to be for mobile-only and only available in the US.
- The Lad Bible has proven its popularity and relevance with their new official app topping the list of most popular smartphone application, in only 24 hours.
- Fashion brand OneMeth have created a dynamic way in which they can share their fall/winter range. Using Google Street View, the brand allows users to explore round the store with models positioned throughout sporting clothes from the latest range.
- Pirelli have sparked mass debate with the release of image from their renowned yearly calendar. In the past the Pirelli calendars had typically focused on supermodels, however this year they have departed from that approach, with women of great influence (for instance Amy Schumer, Serena Williams and Yoko Ono) now the point of focus.
