RE-UPdate #14 – We’re back baby!

Yihaa! It’s been a while you haven’t heard from us, so here’s a sneak peak of what’s happened in the RE-UP gang during the previous weeks.

First, we tried to get a better understanding of the beauty and cosmetics industry for one of our freshest EMEA clients (more will be revealed soon). We got our creative hats on for content and for design, even developing new social media guidelines and best editorial practice.

We delved into best practice of brands on Instagram – to gain a good insight into the mechanics of the channel and how we could use these learnings to suggest dynamic and inspiring content for our clients. We even kick-started the week with a presentation from Content Strategist Zoë on how Instagram is being used as an e-commerce platform, even without clickable links.

We’ve also been working with TNS, developing an overview on design, innovation and quality of cars for one of their clients, and on top of that seeing how they compared to their competitors.

We’re now in the process of assembling and optimizing all the research and analysis that we have produced over the past several months as to be able to build a detailed market research report for RE-UP’s own internal use.

And that’s not it – we’ve also been developing potential activation programmes for iDBUS to grow the brand love in the UK. If you haven’t tried it yet – get inspired by their awesome city break deals and, like us, dream about a weekend away exploring.

And as always – we have our finger on the digital pulse – bringing you news you may not have seen that’s keeping us thinking and generating new ideas for our clients.

News #1: Facebook now allows for the use of Facebook Messenger without even having a Facebook account. That’s simply a great move for people preoccupied by privacy issues – yet still willing to be connected to their peers of the Facebook world (Mum, Dad, this is for you). That’s also an interesting move when you think about Whatsapp – owned by Facebook – being rivaled by its older brother.

News #2: Twitter attempts to increase  its user base with a little love – switching it ‘favourite’ icon  – the star – to a heart. Is this merely a gimmick, or a real way to create emotional connections across social platforms?

(Huhem Instagram wannabe?)twitter heart

News #3 – and this makes us SMILE: Instagram introduces new explore tool, which is better equipped to search trending tags and places. This big change holds the potential for brands to reach relevant eyeballs (at the right time) and will accelerate word-of-mouth, as a great way to raise brand awareness – ISN’T LIFE BEAUTIFUL? 🙂

News #4: At Cannes Lions, one of the key discussion has been the role data plays in the development of creative content. Here at RE-UP we believe that data shouldn’t be seen as restrictive, but is a way to develop and channel creativity to create the best possible content that connects and engages the desired target market.

News #5: At Cannes Lions we also seen the incensement of celebrities figures being seen as experts and leading figures in the world of social media, creativity and branding – with the likes of Pharrell Williams, Kim Kardashian, David Guetta and Will.I.Am all having their opinion voiced. But is Kim K the new David Ogilvy?

Perhaps not.

So that’s all for now, and we promise that we won’t make you wait so long next time.
